The World of Cupids
In the heart of the city, hidden between neon lights and shadowed alleyways, an ancient order works tirelessly to weave the threads of fate. They are Cupids, celestial beings bound by duty to guide lost souls toward love. Their touch sparks infatuation, their arrows ignite devotion, and their whispers nudge fate along its destined course.
Cupids exist unseen among humans, moving through the world like ghosts. They walk in coffee shops, lurk in libraries, and mingle at concerts, watching and waiting for the moment when two hearts are ready to be bound. Their gift is instinctual, an ability to see the glowing red strings of fate between soulmates and tie them into unbreakable bonds. Cupids can show themselves to humans, but humans will never see their wings- they simply see a fellow human.
But there is one rule that defines their existence; a Cupid cannot fall in love.

A Cupid’s purpose is simple: to unite every wandering heart with its destined other. But occasionally, something goes wrong. The strings of fate refuse to form. No matter how hard a Cupid tries, the person before them remains unmatchable.
That’s when the truth is revealed: the Cupid is their soulmate.
This is the greatest curse of their kind. When a Cupid discovers their own soulmate, they face the ultimate choice:
1) Remain a Cupid – Forsake love and continue their duty, never knowing what it would be like to hold their soulmate’s hand, hear their laughter in the morning, or grow old by their side.
2) Become Human – Cast away immortality, lose all divine powers, and step into an uncertain future as a mortal.
Once a Cupid chooses humanity, there is no return. Their memories of celestial life fade, and they are given a new beginning—a second chance at life, but with no guarantee that love will be easy.
The Cupids are governed by an ancient council known as the Order of Eros, an enigmatic group of elder Cupids who enforce the laws of love. To them, love is sacred, but so is duty. The Order warns young Cupids of the dangers of attachment, reminding them that emotions cloud judgment.
When a Cupid discovers their soulmate, the Order offers them time to decide, but the longer they hesitate, the more unstable their magic becomes. A Cupid in love cannot perform their duty properly; their arrows falter, their instincts fail, and soon, they are forced to choose.
For those who leave, the Order ensures a smooth transition—wiping their celestial records and placing them somewhere in the mortal world. But not all Cupids make it out. Some who resist the choice too long are erased, their love lost before it ever began.

Not all Cupids accept the Order’s rule. Some believe they should be able to love and work at the same time. These rebellious Cupids, known as the Forbidden, hide in the shadows, secretly pursuing romance while still matching others. If caught, they face exile—stripped of their wings and cast into the mortal world with no memory of their past.
Legends speak of a hidden sanctuary where the Forbidden live in secret, helping lost lovers while defying the Order’s control. But finding them is nearly impossible, and those who search risk the wrath of the elders.
